3 Tips For Successful Email Marketing Campaigns During The Holiday Season

By: Rachael Seda

Hands down, one of the best aspects of email marketing is that when your customer offers up their email address, they’re actively choosing to receive communications from you. Unlike ads on social media, your audience (and potential customer!) is saying “YES! I want to hear more.” This is especially valuable to you as a business owner around the holiday season.

Today, we’re going to share 3 tips for successful email marketing campaigns that you can take into the holiday season and beyond.

Update Your Welcome Sequence

Since your welcome sequence contains the first pieces of email communication to your reader/customer, it’s important that it 1) grab their attention 2) is easily recognizable and 3) gives your customers a reason to engage from the very first email. If you can’t remember the last time you took a close look at the content in your welcome sequence, it’s time to do so now! Make sure all your branded information is correct. We also recommend adding a “seasonal” aspect to the first few emails (especially if they surround a holiday promo). Just remember to make a note on your calendar to switch them back after the holiday season.

Make It Easy For Customers To Buy

As consumers, we’re constantly bombarded with ads, social content, emails, and more – especially during the holiday season. So when it comes to your email marketing efforts, you want to make buying your product as easy as possible for your customers. This means that when you send out promotional emails, there should be a clear call-to-action to buy, preferably a button that stands out amongst your email content. If the reader has to “hunt” for the content or products they want, there’s a good chance they’ll move on!

Segment Your Email List

If you have yet to do so, segmenting your email list allows you to tailor your messaging to each group of customers. This might include VIPS, long-time customers, gift givers, etc. Tailoring your messaging to each group will yield better open, click-thru, and conversion rates because it shows that you care about what your customers are interested in. Each email marketing platform varies a bit in the step-by-step process of segmenting your audience, so check your platform’s help files if you have questions.

Pro Tip: Give your very best customers access to your promotions before anyone else to make them feel extra special this holiday season.
